Lake Mead

We've lived in Las Vegas for over 4 years (crazy!), and we hadn't been to Lake Mead.

We finally went yesterday for our FHE activity.

It's one of those things that I hit myself over the head about and said, "WHY haven't we done this before?"

It's awesome.

We went to one of the beaches there that is designated for swimming only. No animals, no boats allowed.

The water was clear, there was sand to play, seashells to find, and PLENTY of water to swim in.

We brought a picnic dinner, which the kids quickly ate before getting back to the lake fun.

After we were done with the lake...

(And by "we", I mean Josh... we were all having a good time when he suddenly ran out of the water, grabbed the keys from our pile of stuff, and went to the car.)

...we went and got snow cones at the Purple Penguin Snow Cone shack.

I've never been a huge snowcone fan, because who likes biting into a hard ball of ice with kool-aid flavoring?

But, this place was just as incredible as everyone has been telling me. Their snowcones are like snow. Not a hard ball of ice. So, probably what a snowcone should be. Plus, no kool-aid here. It was soooo good! Totally worth waiting in line for 1/2 hour for (and, apparently, that's a 'shorter' line... this place rocks). Perfect after all of that swimming and playing in the sun.

We had a really fun day/night together. We are soooo going to have to visit the lake again soon! (And maybe we can sneak in another snowcone while we're at it). :)

Weve never been either but Jason keeps talking about it. I will have to let him know. So fun thanks for the idea:>

Sounds like fun! I'm with you about sno-cones. It sounds like that place has shaved ice though, and that is totally different! I love shave ice!
