Princess Party

Grace was invited to a princess tea party last night. She was SO excited to go and we had a lot of fun! I wish I had taken a picture of all of the little girls all dressed up... they were too cute!

Mike had to work late, so Adam had to come, too, and hang out. Cupcakes were involved, though, so I don't think he was too bummed about being around all of those girls. ;) We had a fun time!

Adam's Musical Performance

Grace, Josh, and I went to Adam's school musical performance today. The kids all did such a great job and it was SO fun to see him perform!

He had been acting pretty horrible all week, and I just could NOT figure out what was up with him. The morning of his performance, he asked me (for the 100th time), "Are you sure you coming to my performance?" When I told him that I promised that I was, he started crying and said, "Well, you didn't come last year because you were mad at me, so I was afraid you wouldn't be coming again."

I felt SO bad! I hadn't gone to his musical performance the year before but NOT because I was mad at him! I couldn't go because Josh was only 10 days old and I was still recovering from my c-section and Mike HAD to work. I probably could've drugged up and gone, but I so didn't want to take a newborn into a school of germs! So, we decided not to go. For some reason, he thought I was mad at him? No wonder he's been crazy this week! So sad! So, we talked about it and he felt much better. He still looked pretty relieved when we walked into the auditorium, though. ;)

Ugh! I have forever and can NOT get my videos to load. I will try again sometime-these videos of them singing are too, too cute.

Especially the hand movements. ;)

They sang about 10 songs, but my favorite was "Nevada." I grew up in Arizona, and could tell you plenty about that state. Adam has only gone to school in Nevada, though, so he has learned all about it, and it tickles me that he knows more about Nevada than I do.

"Nevada"

The state where we live,
Way out in the west,
Is filled with many wonders and places of rest.
Where you can see mountains and feel the desert sun.
We call it Nevada, to us it's number one!

Nevada, where mountains are snow-covered,
And miners work their claims.
Where sagebrush bloom,
And mountain bluebirds hover-
Our loyalty remains.

The thirty-sixth state is known as "Battleborn,"
Because it joined the Union in time of Civil War.
On October 31st, in 1864.
We call it Nevada, the place we all adore.

Nevada, where mountains are snow-covered,
And miners work their claims.
Where sagebrush bloom,
And mountain bluebirds hover-
Our loyalty remains.

The peaceful waters of the lakes we see-
Pyramid, and Tahoe, Ruby, Walker, and Mead.
Where muledeer graze among the Pinon pines,
We call it Nevada, it's always on our minds.

Nevada, where mountains are snow-covered,
And miners work their claims.
Where sagebrush bloom,
And mountain bluebirds hover-
Our loyalty remains.

(Now, you know a little bit about Nevada, too. Don't ever say that this blog isn't educational.)

The also played their recorders. Go ahead and imagine one child playing a recorder. Multiply it by 150. I'll go ahead and leave THAT performance to you imagination! ;)

We had such a fun day and finished off by ducking out of school early, and grabbing some cones from McDonald's. We are all so proud of Adam and how hard he works on all of his talents! Way to go!

Fourth Project: Living Museum

Adam's project for the month was to research the life of someone who has made a significant contribution to society.

His class had a "living museum" where each person dressed up like the person they chose and make a speech in first person, i.e. "My name is ____."

Adam chose Sir Alexander Fleming. He researched him, and then we made a lab coat out of an old white shirt of Mike's, a bow tie (which was crooked, because in all of the pictures we found of Alex, his tie was crooked), and Adam designed a Penicillin bottle with an empty medicine bottle.

He did such a fantastic job! I love that I get to go each month and watch his presentations. He has improved SO much on his presentation skills! I am so proud of how much he has grown and learned.

Today After School

On the way home from school today, Adam broke a few of our car rules.

To be specific, he hit Grace and started screaming at her, causing me to be distracted and almost hit another car.

To be more specific, he hit Grace because she sang, "I got a slushie, I got a slushie!"

To be even more specific, I might go crazy soon if my 7-year-old hits his little sister over her bragging about a small cherry slushie.

Good night.

Anyways, I pulled over and stopped the car. When he had calmed down, I drove home. When we got home, I asked him to go to his room and make me a list of reasons why he should follow our car rules.

Here's what he came up with:

1) You hate me.
2) You are crule (cruel).
3) I can't play video games.
4) You will call me names.
5) I can't go to school.
6) You won't go to the program.
7) You will hurt me.
8) You will kill me.
9) You won't let me do anything.
10) You will throw me out of an airplane.

Overdramatic much? Yes. Adam gets a papercut and starts crying, "I think I'm going to die!" He's crazy dramatic. I had to fight back the laughter as I sent him back to his room to make a new list.

And once he was gone, I totally cracked up.

...

I mean, I would never kill him. Or hurt him. Or throw him out of an airplane.

And I probably would never call him names.

However, WHY in the world would he think I would punish him by NOT letting him go to school.

It's absurd.

And it is probably the one that made me laugh the most.

Aunt Kayty's Visit!

My sister, Kayty, came up to visit us on Wednesday and Thursday! We had SO much fun! I love when she comes up!

Because I get to talk and talk and talk.

And her eyes don't roll back in her head like Mike's do when I go on too long about something.

Plus, she will watch Glee with me.

And her eyes won't roll in the back of her head like Mike's do when I watch Glee.

And she's just a super-fun person and my bestie!

We had fun hanging out on Wednesday, and then Thursday morning I made her go to Zumba with me. Too fun! She made candy bracelets with Adam and Grace, and they had so much fun playing with her! I think even Josh is getting used to her crazy-colored hair. ;) She left early Friday morning, and we were so sad to see her go!

We miss ya, Aunt Kayty!

During the Day...

... we (sometimes) eat breakfast while watching The Cat in the Hat.

... we eat lunch with Daddy (on special occasions).

... Josh helps with the laundry.

... Grace and Josh fight over the tv (if it's on, he wants it off; if it's off, he wants it on).

... Josh climbs. Everywhere.

... we make dinner together.

... Josh (usually) finishes up Grace's dinner.

At least SOMEONE is eating it.

Blue Man Date

One of Mike's associate's has a sister who works at The Venetian. She passed on some of her tickets to the Blue Man Group to Mike. He called and told me to find a baby-sitter quick, and even though baby-sitters kinda freak me out, I did it anyways. Because, hello! Free tickets to Blue Man Group!

We raced there after Mike got off of work, parked at the wrong casino, walked up and down 6 flights of stairs and ran/speed-walked the rest of the way. We made it in time and had really, really great seats... we were SO close (but, not close enough to have cereal and paint splashed on us, so perfect!). I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from the Blue Man Group, other than I knew it would involve drums and would be LOUD. I was blown away, though, with the whole act. It. Was. Fun.

SO much fun!

WAY so much fun!

(You get the picture. We loved it.)

After the show, we walked around The Venetian for awhile. I've never been there before, but it's pretty neat. A canal goes through a part of it, and they have gondola rides, which look pretty fun. In the center courtyard, it's really lit and the ceiling is rounded and painted like the sky. You would seriously think that you were outside. It looks like a little Italian village, with Italian singers and performers lining the way.

I really, really want to take the kids there.

They would love it.

Unfortunately, there are lots of really, really high-end stores in The Venetian, too.

So we won't be going.

I don't want to know what custom-hand-made-Italian-blown-glass-figurines-with-diamonds cost when one of my punks escapes and breaks one.

We had the best time. It was SUCH a fun night!

And not just the Blue Man Group part (though they completely rock). The date part. The being alone with Mike and getting out of the house part.

I've decided I need more of those.

Like, at least once-a-month more of those.

Note: Really dorky photos below. Mike didn't want me to ask a stranger to take our photo, so we got dorky photos. Really dorky photos.

I love him, anyway.

In the Blue Man Group audience.

In front of the Blue Man Group sign.
In front of the canal.
The Venetian sky.

PS - My hair has decided to grow back after all of the post-pregnancy-hormones hair loss. So. Don't mind my crazy baby hairs in our dorky pictures.

PPS - You probably didn't even notice them until I mentioned them. But, they jump out to me in the pictures and I'm not loving it.

PPPS - If you didn't notice before, please don't go back and notice them now. Thanks.

Duck, Duck, Goose!

Isn't this picture cute?

I think so.

Much cuter than a picture of what I was doing at the time.

Which was taking the babies one by one and running them around the house, while Grace chased us, for a game of "Duck, Duck, Goose."

Over and over again.

I'm going to go ahead and count it toward my exercise for the day.

Primary 2011

A new year means a new year in Primary!

Grace is a CTR 4 this year. She has been SO excited for weeks to get her very own CTR ring! (by the way, this the Christmas dress that I made her this year).

Adam is a CTR 7 this year. Man, he's stinkin' handsome! I can't believe he's going to be baptized this year... crazy!

They both kept their same teachers, but had a fun day being introduced to a new theme and lessons!
