Good 'Ol Days

Last night, we went to an LDS activity sponsored by 4 stakes (none of them were ours, but Mike's employees invited him). Anyways, each stake put on one 20 minute musical (Wizard of Oz, The Music Man, etc.). We sat outside on the grass, had a picnic, and the stakes provided snow cones and popcorn. Despite my suffering allergies today, it was SO MUCH FUN! It was great to be outside in really nice weather, with hundreds of other proud families watching their kids and friends put on the performances. It was fun seeing Mike's employees dressed up and being silly. It was fun to see all of the kids running around. It was just a lot of fun.

And it makes me wonder, what happened to all of the stuff that stakes and wards used to do? I mean, I grew up hearing about the great roadshows that my mom was in. My dad played church softball every week religiously (get it? Church ball religiously? :) ). It was really fun. I have been in one Saturday all-day thrown together roadshow, which was fun, but not the same. I have never been in a ward where they had Church softball. Do stakes and wards still do this kind of stuff, and maybe I'm just in boring areas? Are we all so PC nowadays in the Church, that we can't stand a little competition? I'm missin' the good ol' days now.

Totally know what you mean. I was actually in a few roadshows, and my sister who lives in vegas, her stake did a roadshow. I think that people get to caught up in it being a burr in their side. We have to get the activity chairs on it.
